Modeling for Amaryllis of Hawaii
December 16th, 2010 § 1 Comment
Today was so much fun! I was modeling for Amaryllis of Hawaii at Ho’okipa this morning! It was gorgeous and Judi Riley took the pictures! She is a natural photographer.

Marilyn Jansen is the creator and even though I’ve only met her twice, she is super nice and really personable. She paints and silk screens her own tshirts. She has written books, from coloring to cooking and even gardening! She is super creative! It’s awesome to have so many artsy people here!

Anyway so check out her website at www.amaryllisofhawaii.com and see for yourself!!

Iao Valley – Fun Fun Fun!
December 7th, 2010 § 1 Comment
You know what is so much fun to do in Maui? Hike Iao Valley!
It’s historical, full of life, and really scenic…I’m not sure how many people know about it, my mom was saying that she didn’t think that Iao Valley got much exposure. Well, I am gonna make it widely known! haha.
Iao Valley is a state park and the state keeps it really gorgeous! Except the economy has made them have to charge for parking if you are not Kamaaina (resident). But the 5 dollars would be worth it to me! There is a Nature Center that was open but its closed right now, which is sad.
But you can walk around the gardens and even eat at a Cafe that is right next to the Nature Center! Yum yum!
SO next time you are thinking of something to do on a crystal clear day, go up and experience Iao Valley!
Now I took way to many pictures so I’m only gonna post a couple here. I am posting the rest on FB…
Check out Maui Love Blog on Facebook!

Have a great day everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!
I know I shouldn’t be posting today but I have some time this morning. I wanted to share with you all a song that I heard when I was little…
(Tune of The More We Get Together the Happier We’ll Be)
Gobble, gobble, gobble, fat turkey, fat turkey!
Gobble, gobble, gobble, fat turkeys are we.
We’re not here for living,
We’re here for thanksgiving!
Gobble, gobble, gobble, fat turkeys are we.
Now if you can’t get the tune right, here is a video link to what it’s supposed to sound like… (I have no clue who these people are, I just know they know how the tune goes. )

So anyway today I woke up to this…
Yay! A thanksgiving rainbow!
So I want to ask you all a question….What are you most thankful for this year? I am most thankful for my Father in heaven and my Ohana. =)
Have a blessed thanksgiving!

I love Baby Beach in Sprecklesville…and turtles at Ho’okipa!
November 23rd, 2010 § Leave a Comment
Wow! Two amazing things in one day!
So I met my friend at Baby Beach this morning, but I didn’t go swimming, I just had fun taking pictures! The water was so crystal clear and serene.
There were plenty of people on the beach but I found a small little cove that I wrote these words…
So as I went about my stressful day…I was anticipating my friend’s birthday beach evening. We had fun surfing, even though we got caught in some sets that were head high at least. It makes you realize how precious life is. It’s probably the 100th time I’ve almost died at Ho’okipa and her first. We made it and we are totally fine. We ate a bit and then took pictures….of our toes!
So then it started to get dark…and we knew what that meant. Turtles! We were careful not to get too close, that’s why the pictures are a bit blurry. They crept up on the beach and started to sleep.
I work for Happy Honu Comfort Gear aka Tikitales so it makes me really excited when I actually see a Happy Honu!
On a side note, Thanksgiving is coming! Woop woop! Time for stuffing yourself with turkey and pumkin pie.
Now, this is a little weird cause usually people ask, “What is your favorite thanksgiving food?” or something like that. Well, I’m gonna ask…What is your least favorite part of the thanksgiving meal?
My least favorite would have to be, the cranberry sauce with real cranberries. I don’t like crunching on things when I am trying to enjoy the jello substance.
Don’t forget to comment and give your answer!
Beautiful Ho’okipa
November 20th, 2010 § Leave a Comment
Did anyone drive by (or surf) Ho’okipa on Thursday? It was so beautiful!
These are some pictures I took from the road. Don’t worry I wasn’t driving.
Sorry, some are a bit blurry.
The water at Ho’okipa (Ho-oh-key-pah) is usually choppy and not so blue. Mostly choppy cause of the wind. Windsurfers love those conditions but today, it was pure surfing conditions. The parking lot at Ho’okipa Beach Park was packed and there were so many people in the water!
I went surfing later in the day, it was still pretty good…but the Honu (ho-new; sea turtles) were kinda scaring me, they kept popping up out of nowhere and I was afraid I would run over one!
I always love Ho’okipa, but that day especially. Probably has something to do with me being a surfer/boogie boarder. Yeah, one of these days I will get someone to take a picture of me surfing.
I took these pictures at 9:30 am. I bet people skipped out on work just to enjoy this…

Maui Lightning
November 19th, 2010 § 5 Comments
I love it when there is lightning in Maui. It’s so beautiful and amazing! I tried to take some video of it, but it’s kinda pixally.
And I made it into slooooow motion so you (hopefully) can see it!
I love lightning, it’s so beautiful! Maui doesn’t have lightning as often as some places, so when we get some, we like to enjoy it. As long as there isn’t torrential rain or thunder.
Today I worked with Liza @AMauiBlog today and she is just filled with wonderful advice about blogging! I am so glad God brought us together! I am helping her organize AMauiBlog.com so it’s more user friendly.
Anyway, if you live in Kihei I know you saw it! Quite a sight.

I Love the Ocean
November 15th, 2010 § 2 Comments
The ocean is one of the many wonders of creation. How can something that has killed millions of people, be so essential to our survival? I personally love the ocean. The way the tide goes in and out, the waves that change so quickly, and the sound of the small waves back and forth over the sand.
“The sound of the ocean, soothes my restless soul.” is a famous line from Isreal Kamakawiwo’ole’s White Sandy Beach, and it’s exactly how I feel. I’m sure a lot of people would agree with me.
I’m not much of a textbook fact person. My blog is the emotional side of Maui, what it makes me feel like, what I LOVE. The ocean has emotions also. You can tell when it’s angry, sad, happy, peaceful. Next time you see the ocean, observe what mood it’s in. You’ll be able to tell.
Now I wanna know, what is your favorite thing about the ocean? What does it make you feel?
Aloha Nui Loa!
